Create Your Own Midcentury Original

We can collaborate with you to create your very own bespoke midcentury original. It’s a more involved process, usually taking 8-10 weeks, but definitely worth the effort. Here’s how it works…

  • Pick your vintage frame with a 30% deposit
  • Find the perfect fabric
  • Decide on the details
  • Confirm timescales and delivery date
  • Approving your piece
  • You have a beautiful refurbished midcentury sofa!

Pick your Vintage Frame

You’ll find vintage frames available for bespoke restoration in Frames For Restoration.

If you don’t see the perfect frame, let us know what you are looking for and we can keep you updated. We have shipments arrive from Denmark every 8-10 weeks so our stock is replenished regularly and there might be just the thing in the pipeline.

It can take a little vision when considering pieces in their vintage glory! Often the old upholstery is saggy or torn but we can assure you that all our frames are thoroughly vetted and are structurally sound on the inside.

When you have found the one, we would recommend that you come and see it in person.

To secure your frame we require a 30% non-refundable deposit. Our bespoke prices include delivery to most parts of the UK subject to our Inclusive Delivery Service.

Find the Perfect Fabric

We use a select but comprehensive range of high quality fabrics.

If you have an idea of the colour palette you are looking for we can send a range of samples for consideration. It’s often helpful to look at our Archive for inspiration. If you would like advice and guidance, we can guide you through the possibilities and what might work well in your space. We’re always happy to offer our views and photos of your existing furniture and colours can be really helpful.

Guide prices shown are for what we call ‘standard’ fabrics. These are the pure wools we predominantly use on our Ready Restored pieces. However, we do use some fabrics that can be a more expensive and going the other way, we also have ranges that are cheaper. We will always advise you which fabrics are more or less than the guide price so you can make an informed decision.

All of the materials and fabrics meet UK Fire Retardancy Regulations for domestic use and we can specify the use of Crib 5 fabrics if a piece is going into a public place or business.

Decide on the Details

We can also make recommendations on the final styling of your piece. You might want a fixed back instead of cushions; you may decide to have some piped details, perhaps in a contrasting fabric; would you like buttons and how many, what size? There can be a few fine details to decide upon but these are often the things that make a piece truly unique. Sometimes it can affect the final price but we will let you know about any price implications along the way so that there are no surprises.

Next Steps

When the fabric and design spec are finalised, we will confirm timescales for restoration and agree your final order details including a delivery date.

Then, when your frame is back from its makeover, we will share photos for approval and the balance is payable prior to the piece being collected for delivery.

And Relax

You get to sit back and enjoy your beautiful, tailor-made Midcentury Original.
